What a year! We finished Crysis 2, I started working on Ryse, did workshop 2 of iAnimate, went to the states for an awesome holiday and wedding, and I am now preparing to move to Crytek UK in February to be closer to my girlfriend! I’m looking forward to 2012 and the exciting things that it will bring, who knows what will be happening this time next year!
Hope you all have a good one!
I finally got the time to put together some of my “Best Bits” from Crysis 2:
NOTE: The last shot has some First Person weapon animation (walking) I didn’t animate that!

Just a quick update!
I’m now signed up for workshop 2 of ianimate which starts May 2nd. Workshop 2 focuses on body mechanics and pantomime acting so watch this space for my ianimate work!
I got “The Art of Up” for Christmas, its a great book which goes into detail about the character design, including personality, emotions and what drives them throughout the movie.

Theres a few more of these books so I’m going to start collecting them!
Crysis 2 Release date is nearing which means I can start to put together a demo reel from my work on c2!

In the past few weeks I have realised that I need to take my time when animating and let the shots progress naturally. I usually rush into a shot without proper planning and then try to get it finished so I can move onto the next “great idea”.
I end up with a bunch of unfinished shots and a feeling of doubt – doubt that I can’t get the shots to a high quality – but if I properly research and plan a shot then work on it until its finished (even if it takes months), I will be much happier, gain confidence and have a great piece of work to show for it.
I think this mentality grew from my working environment as we are pressed for time and are always thinking about the next shot. Taking the time off let me realise this. I would rather have one 10 second shot polished to the best of my ability after 6 months of work than 6 average pieces.
I have/had a blog on Blogspot which I used to update every now and then: http://wodgeanimation.blogspot.com/
As I now have this website I thought I would post some old stuff here too, so here it is:
